Our Mission

Lisa Maaca Inc. transforms trauma by creating psychologically safe spaces, disseminating trauma-informed care understanding, distilling stories derived from neuroscience data, and disrupting traumatic impact at micro, mezzo, and macro system levels.

Our Vision

We exist to transform trauma, first in our own lives, and then in the lives of others.

Our Core Values

CHANGE

We believe in transforming trauma in every human being, collective, and organization. We disrupt the status quo by inviting courageous conversations, cultivating trauma-informed environments, and creating pathways for others to move from stuck-ness to whole-ness.

"If we do not transform our pain, we will most assuredly transmit it. If we cannot find a way to make our wounds into sacred wounds, we invariably give up on life and humanity."

COMPASSION

We respect and uphold the intrinsic dignity, worth, and autonomy of each person. We show compassion by suspending judgment, being concerned for others' needs and feelings, recognizing the intergenerational impacts of historical, cultural, racial, identity, and other traumas, and acting in ways to help others feel seen, heard, and understood.

“Compassion is to look beyond your own pain, to see the pain of others.”

CREATIVITY

We embrace the idea that creativity is an essential element of human nature. We celebrate the unique potential within everyone, and recognize trauma often keeps people from living a creative life.

"Creativity is the focused combination of unlikely things.”

CONNECTION

We emphasize the importance of fostering meaningful relationships between individuals, within families and organizations, and across communities to build psychologically safe environments where trauma transformation takes place.

“[Connection is] the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.”

COLLABORATION

We encourage a spirit of partnership, a sharing of perspectives, and asking for help. We intentionally create collective spaces that value diversity, equity, and inclusion to address and transform trauma.

"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much."

- Helen Keller
